Cynthia Yemanya Napue is an artist who has been performing, teaching and creating art in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1975. Versatile, talented and compassionate, her gifts enrich generations.

Performer & Teacher
Yemanya performs with authentic African drummers, dancers and musical groups throughout the area. The history of African American culture is told through storytelling, dance and song. The traditional costuming and choreography are passed down from her family’s heritage. Yemanya continues to teach children - seniors classes in dance and exercise in Northern California, call for more info.

Champion Mom for Change

Mother of 3 children and grandmother to 7, Yemanya is a Champion Moms for Change, for the CA Educational Health Council. She was awarded Mother of the Year by the City of Oakland at the tender age of 23, (she declined the award as she felt older mothers were more worthy), and nominated again as Mother of the Year in 2008 by the California Educational Health Council:

Community Gardens

Yemanya is a Community Garden Advocate who teaches healthy eating and establishing community gardens. In conjunction with Freedom Farm and sponsors. New Community Gardens are currently being developed in the Sacramento area. Fresh organic fruits and vegetables are cared for and divided among volunteers, land owners and needy familites. Textile Artist, Teacher & Braider

Yemanya creates fabulous quilts, ethnic dolls, tapestries, crochet garments and hats, costumes for stage and film on consignment and as an art form. Classes are available for all age groups. Call for availability and group pricing. An expert in ethnic hair styles and braiding, Yemanya also teaches style history.
